About Us
Serving Safety Needs Since 1998
Since 1998, RIT Safety Solutions has been serving the safety needs of our working men and women. Originally providing safety for Firefighters and first responders, RIT Safety Solutions now serves a variety of safety and rescue markets including fire, industrial (telecommunications and wind energy), military, and more.
RIT products are manufactured in the U.S.A. Need a specific solution perfectly designed for the job? We have the capability to design custom projects to suit virtually any application and have expanded to carry the Xtirpa and ISC product lines to further serve customers.
Meet the Founder
In 1978 I started with a volunteer fire department in central Ohio and went on to Cleveland EMS, Mt. Sinai Hospital, a level one trauma center. I finished my career at Warrensville Heights Fire Department, retiring after 25 years. Throughout the 42 years I was in service, I learned the real-life expectations of a fire medic.
I started RIT in 1998 after our crew was almost forced to jump out of a window to safety at a 4-story apartment fire. Unfortunately, we had an injured firefighter whom we had to evacuate when the roof collapsed. I did not sleep well for several days and thought there needed to be a solution for this type of emergency.
I wanted to make an emergency egress system (PSS) for every firefighter with these 4 stipulations. The system should be lightweight (under 4 pounds), fire-rated, integrated into their gear, and 100% pre-rigged and ready to use.
After much research and development, I sent my design to the Underwriters Laboratory for third-party testing to the NFPA standards. After 3 months I called to get an update on the certification and was told they had no idea what I sent in or how to test it.
I traveled to Raliegh, where UL is located, to explain the system. After several months, I was awarded the certification to the NFPA 1983-1998 Edition. The first company to have such a system certified.
RIT Continues to Grow
For over 25 years RIT has listened to our customers, trainers, and OEM clients. We started with product designs needed to save lives and put them to the test. Utilizing nationally recognized HOT training instructors in the early 2000’s with intensive field trails, we have designed, redesigned, and certified our products to ensure that the fit, form, and functions are the best they can be.
We have continued to listen over the years and have made many improvements with our products and have been able to increase our product offering.
Thank you. RIT could not do this alone and with your help, we have expanded into markets we never thought possible.
RIT was founded and is currently operated by career Firefighter and Paramedic, Omar Jordan. He knows firsthand the risks facing workers when their job functions take them to extreme heights, tight spaces, and low visibility.
He designs products to be comfortable to the wearer, user friendly, and affordable without compromising quality.
Training & Demonstrations
Quality products are only the beginning. RIT Safety Solutions also provides thorough training on every system, teaching users how the product functions properly and how to know when it is time to take the item out of service.
We have the capability to provide repair and refurbishing services on our products, understanding that companies and municipalities that need to ensure the safety of their employees are often on a limited budget and purchasing new gear as often as needed is not realistic. Our repair services allow users to keep their safety products in optimal working order without breaking the bank.
