Wind Power Safety Equipment
Safety Equipment Designed for the Wind Power Industry
Wind energy work creates a unique set of safety demands. Crews may need to climb tall towers, move through tight internal spaces, work inside nacelles, transition across edges, carry tools at height, and respond quickly if a worker becomes stranded or injured.
That is why wind power safety equipment needs to do more than meet a basic requirement. It needs to work smoothly in the field, reduce complexity during emergencies, and integrate into a broader rescue plan.
RIT Safety Solutions develops equipment for:
- Work at height
- Self-rescue after a fall
- Controlled descent from elevated work areas
- Assisted rescue operations
- Confined space retrieval
- Safe lifting and movement of tools and materials
Featured Wind Power Safety Equipment
Self-Rescue System
The Self-Rescue System is designed for workers at height who need a fast, controlled means of escape. It is ANSI/ASSP Z359.9 certified, non-weight-bearing, built with an auto-locking descender with panic braking, and allows horizontal movement to an egress point with slack take-up. It integrates with the worker’s harness and also has assisted rescue capability.
Assisted Rescue System
The Assisted Rescue System is designed for wind, telecom, and utility workers operating at height. It includes a Harken Wingman, 20 feet of 7.5 mm Kevlar rope, two rigging or anchor straps, a Kong Duck attached to the rope, and a 100% tie-off storage pouch
Confined Space Retrieval System
The Confined Space Retrieval System is built for wind energy, utility, and tower work. It includes 130 feet of high-strength tubular Kevlar webbing with 4,500 lb tensile strength, a pre-attached Kong Duck, ISC Haulerbiner, and two rigging or anchor straps.
Step Up Lanyard
The Step Up Lanyard is designed for self-rescue after a fall, allowing workers at height to regain footing on a lifeline using a sewn step system attached to a hand ascender. It features a stay-open loop design, 100% tie-off to its storage pouch, and step loops positioned 29, 43, and 57 inches from the top of the ascender.
Heavy Lift Bag
The Heavy Lift Bag is a rugged, high-capacity lift bag for safely hoisting tools and materials at height. It is rated to a 1,400 lb working load limit upright or inverted and is built with 32 oz vinyl-coated polyester, shrink-resistant laminated fabric, quick-release buckles, and nylon webbing.

Why Wind Power Crews Choose RIT Safety Solutions
RIT Safety Solutions designs and manufactures specialized rescue and fall protection systems for professionals working in high-risk, elevated, and confined environments. The five core systems in this line are designed to function independently while also supporting a cohesive rescue strategy built around prevention, descent, retrieval, and assisted recovery.
Built for Real Work at Height
RIT systems are designed for demanding environments where equipment performance and response time matter. Whether a worker needs to regain footing on a lifeline, descend from height, assist an injured teammate, or retrieve equipment safely, the systems are built around practical field use.
Designed to Reduce Complexity in Emergencies
Engineered for Compatibility & Integration
The Self-Rescue System is designed to integrate with the worker’s harness and is compatible with all harness types, helping distribute weight across the shoulders and waist to reduce snagging and leg impact.
Strong Technical Performance for Demanding Conditions
RIT’s Self-Rescue System is ANSI/ASSP Z359.9 certified, supports lengths up to 630 feet, includes an auto-locking descender with panic braking, and is fire rated to NFPA 2500 (2021). The system is also rated to withstand 400°C for more than 30 minutes with a 300 lb load and 600°C for 1 minute with a 300 lb load.
Frequently Asked Questions
What type of safety equipment do wind turbine technicians need?
Wind turbine technicians often need equipment for fall protection, self-rescue, assisted rescue, confined space retrieval, and safe handling of tools and materials at height. RIT’s wind power lineup is built around those needs with systems for descent, retrieval, rescue, and lifting.
